All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers (VAP), which includes HD Group among its member companies is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
"For us, this marks a significant journey together. The association is not only a professional community but also a driving force behind positive changes in the industry. We have achieved a lot together," commented Boris Shestopalov, Vice President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers and co-owner/CEO of HD Group.
Boris Shestopalov emphasized the effective collaboration between the association and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on various matters.
"Through the active involvement of VAP, the influence of Resolution No. 300, issued by the Cabinet of Ministers on April 29, 2015, 'On the Approval of the Procedures for the Utilization of Funds Allocated in the National Budget to Provide Financial Support for Agricultural Industry Initiatives through Credit Facilities,' was extended to include bread and bakery enterprises. This measure enabled the Association's member companies to offset the interest rates on loans, acquired to enhance working capital and invest in new ventures.
"We should also acknowledge the proactive cooperation between VAP and other relevant associations, as well as the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. This collaboration resulted in the implementation of several measures in 2021, such as the introduction of a special gas tariff specifically designed for the bakery industry. Another significant outcome was the development of regulations for categorizing enterprises as critical infrastructure. This designation encompassed the majority of bread and flour producers, recognizing them as crucial goods during times of war. This step is of utmost importance in terms of potential limitations on energy and gas supply, as well as possible disconnections. Additionally, it streamlined the process of accessing preferential loans for processing enterprises under the state's 5-7-9% program, while also increasing the lending limit to 150 million hryvnias.
"VAP actively participates in various initiatives and negotiations, including discussions with retailers to establish fair market practices, support for the adoption of the Ukrainian Trade Act, and engagement with exporters in the preparation and signing of annual memorandums regarding agreed-upon volumes of food wheat exports.
"I am confident that the continued efforts of the Association will contribute to the utmost support and protection of the bakery industry enterprises, fostering an environment conducive to their further development and growth," concluded Boris Shestopalov.
